Georges Méliès was not called the “wizard of cinema” without reason. His films are filled with illusionist tricks and pioneering special effects. Over the course of his career, he directed and produced more than 500 short films, many of them in the fairy-tale and fantasy genres. These works continue to captivate audiences with their elaborate set designs, beautiful costumes, and richly colored images hand-tinted frame by frame.
